Kung’s young people, building a future at home.
Since 2018 the Kung Youths Association has kept young people together through hard years: sharing food and tools, caring for members in need, and now planting a youth-owned enterprise in Kung village.

Our community, live
About us
Kung is a village of about 1,036 people in Fungom Subdivision, Menchum Division, North West Region of Cameroon. The Kung Youths Association (KU.Y.A) was registered in 2018, during the crisis, to unite our youths, develop them and empower them.
Our motto is Together, We Can Make a Difference. Our head office is at Mile 18, Buea, and our work is rooted in Kung, our home village. Members lead through an executive and take major decisions together in General Assembly.
Both bodies are legally registered: the association under REG N° 375G.37/C84/VOLI/SASC and our cooperative under REG N° 22/096/CMR/SW/53/282/CCA/001002/00100200.
Our journey
Association registered to unite and empower the youths of Kung.
Food and basic needs for families at the height of the crisis. Our sporting team also played at one of our first fundraising events in Buea.
Plantain farm at West Coast, Limbe, under our cooperative, with support from AIVDP and SOWEDA. We lost it to insecurity and a land conflict, and we learned from it.
150 hoes and 110 machetes shared with farmers. In December we bought 500 m² of land in Tiko for a youth training centre.
With land granted by the Kung Traditional Council, we are preparing a solar-irrigated oil palm nursery in Kung.
Community activities
We do not wait for outside help to start. These are some of the things members have done for Kung and for one another.
Relief at the height of the crisis
We supported households with food and other basic needs when insecurity was at its worst. Watch the video further down this page.
Farming tools for Kung
We gave 150 hoes and 110 machetes so families could keep farming despite the crisis.
Community revitalisation and integration
Youths and the community met in Kung to build understanding and work together during the crisis.
Care for members
We have assisted more than five young people with their medical care, some of them through surgery.
Respect for our traditions
We work with the Kung Traditional Council, and pledged our support to His Royal Majesty Fon Tem Sih II at his coronation in 2026.

Kung Youths’ Cooperative Society (KU.YC)
KU.YC is the agricultural arm of the association, registered under REG N° 22/096/CMR/SW/53/282/CCA/001002/00100200. It exists so that young people can earn from the land and learn modern farming together.
What we have done
In 2022 our delegation negotiated 2,200 plantain plantlets at 25 XAF each, against a market price of about 250 XAF.
What we are starting
A nursery of certified Tenera F1 oil palm seedlings in Kung, watered by a fuel-free solar system and sold to farmers across Fungom.
What members gain
Paid work, hands-on training in nursery management and solar upkeep, and a share of the surplus.

Kung Youth Oil Palm Nursery
We are seeking 2,051,500 XAF (about €3,127) to build a solar-irrigated nursery that raises certified oil palm seedlings. The grant pays for equipment once and the first batch; from the second year, sales cover each new cycle. The land has been granted and our members are ready to work.
The first cycle can supply about 4,500 seedlings, enough to plant around 32 hectares for farmers in Fungom.
Also on our list
Fencing the association’s land in Tiko, which the 7 November Grand Fundraising will help pay for, and later a youth training and empowerment centre on the same land, funded from the nursery surplus and from friends of the association.
